Category keywords dropped after breadcrumbs was implemented

Hi Guys, we recently implemented bread crumbs across ecommerce site and the category keywords dropped aggressively soon after this was implemented. I`m pretty sure it was the breadcrumbs. Internal over optimisation maybe of anchor text? The breadcrumbs are the exact keywords we want the category pages to rank for. Not sure to wait it out (google dance) or reverse it.

Christine Hansen: The benefit is to aid the customer. As a customer, I use them a lot. For clients websites I`ve learned that it has a positive impact - thus Google understands your website categories better. When did you implement the crumbs?
Richard Hearne: I`d be inclined to look at how those breadcrumbs might have changed your internal linking, as opposed to focusing on anchor text. Unless you did something extraordinarily weird with the anchors, I`d be inclined to discount your idea about over-optimization.
