  Michael Martinez: Invest time and practice in building search referral traffic for several Websites. It`s better to work in different niches. Pay for nothing. Do it all yourself. Be very skeptical of any "experts" or "gurus" and tutorials. There are no industry standards so it`s kind of a wild west environment. It`s a very experimental world. Read the Webmaster guidelines from both Bing and Google. Check out Google`s SEO starter guide.   Mal Ö Tonge: First step is to get out of the habit of saying "SEO EXPERT" there is no such thing. SEO is a practice there can be no experts. Second step is to learn the basics, make sure if following tutorials that you follow the most updated tutorials, times have changed so much that things that was accepted before will now see you plummet down the search never to be seen again.
