Starting a New Blog

Hey guys! Been awhile since I asked a dumb question, so here goes...

I have a wordpress blog with some good content, and some not-so-good content -- actually it`s just kind of irrelevant to the "new direction".

I want to start a new blog with a URL that`s more inline with this new direction. I would like to use the good (relevant) content from my existing blog, but of course, not the other (bad) content.

It`s really only a handful of posts but they rank well and bring in good traffic.

I don`t care too much about keeping the existing blog, except for the few posts. I was thinking I`d just use rel=canonical and point to the new posts URL.

Is that okay to do or is there a better way?

Appreciate all the help guys. Thanks!
