My business has moved to a new city

My business has moved to a new city. I set up a whole new website and new domain but now am thinking maybe I should use the old domain because of its Domain Authority. It has pretty good SEO rankings for our old city. If I did use the old domain and website should I just change the city name everywhere in the site or should I just point that domain to my new website? What will be best for organic and local SEO in the long run?

  • Kevin Carney: Old domain, old content, update city names.

  • Dave Elliott: Is your old domain also city based?
  • Michael D. Ross: I am not sure what you mean by "city based" as far as the domain. ; I think the answer is yes. ; The business is a brick and mortar, professional services type and only for a particular city and surrounding cities. ; So local ranking is very important. ; Right now, for one of my main keywords it is listed #3 in the local search results.
  • Dave Elliott: I mean does your old domain contain a city e.g. okayAttorneySandeigo.com or something similar to your current domain.
  • Michael D. Ross: Oh, no. ; My old domain is mikerosslaw.com
  • Michael D. Ross: +Kevin Carney
    Thanks Kevin, that is what I was thinking
  • Kevin Carney: +Michael D. Ross Small world. I think I've been chatting with your wife Susan through my website. Have you moved to Sacramento?

  • Tim Capper: Following on from what +Dave Elliott ;was asking, I would have used the old domain ( updating your location relevant content ).
  • Michael D. Ross: Actually, this is "the wife". ; He is not good with the techy stuff but I wanted to post through his account. ; And yes we moved to Sacramento. ;
  • Chase Reiner: Keep the old domain!!! :)
  • Kevin Carney: +Michael D. Ross Small world!
  • Michael D. Ross: Yeah, I am figuring that is the way to go, thanks Chase. ; I guess I can update the NAP through a service like Moz Local? ; or Yext?
  • Kevin Carney: +Michael D. Ross Either or.
  • Chase Reiner: +Michael D. Ross yext is way more expensive then moz though
