Google Analytics goals.

Hello all.
I am studying Internet Marketing at the UCI Extension
I have a #problem using the #goals of #Google #Analytics.
In particular i have placed the Analytics #script in
one landing page. At the same page i have one form with two fields asking for email and a button
which when pressed by the visitor its  sends the #url "mydomain.com/?submit-email"
I have placed that url at the #Custom Goals of Google Analytics but
unfortunately it seems not to be working. What seems to be the problem and most of all any solution ?
Thanks?

  • Dave Elliott: do you have tracking on the ?submit -email page? That would be the first thing i'd look for. Also, i'd check within Google Analytics to make sure that this page appears within the behavior > site content report and is not filtered out or otherwise excluded

  • Ioannis Anastasiou: Thank you +Dave Elliott for your insight.
The tracking code is at the landing page, which has the forms of providing the email. When someone submits his/her email, ; the url is broadcasted along with the email data starting with mydomain.com/?submit-email
The data are then received by the GET command from the same file and then it runs code to sent an email based on the email data received. Therefore, the tracking script cant capture the goal of sending email, because no thankyou page is used.
  • Dave Elliott: You will need to set up the button click as an event within GA to be able to track this if it doesn't create a specific page. this will give you the code you need to add to the submit button and advice for setting up the goal.

  • Ioannis Anastasiou: Thanks +Dave Elliott ;!!
After some modification to the code
and the GA Event script embedded,
    it worked fine. ;Problem SOLVED
