  • Alan Bleiweiss: Internal link anchor text makes the most sense when the words chosen are ideally able to communicate to site visitors "this is the primary focus of the target page". Because of this, internal linking does not suffer the same danger of spam signals from exact match anchor text from inbound links, as long as the exact match anchor you choose really does communicate that understanding of focus for site visitors. Do not, however, take that to mean you can use 50 varieties of those anchors within the site in order to get the page to be ranked for 50 variations. Because that`s obnoxious. And if it`s obnoxious, it`s spam. ;-)
